GameStop: Reviews
Negative experience: There's a reason they're nicknamed "GameScalp". A good bit of their prices are above market and definitely not even close to retail.
Negative experience: Sold me a 3DS but refrained to tell me it didn’t have an sd card in it which renders it unable to play the games that I also procured for it so in short took over $200 for something I couldn’t even use
Negative experience: When I came here a few weeks ago... I tried trading in my Xbox to the team member macbeth or mcbeth...he pressed the power button to my Xbox 6 times in a row, saying oh it won't turn on..when I told him I just saw him press the button that many times he said no I didnt, I said uh yeah I saw you an the camera probably did too...he was quiet for a few seconds then said yeah we don't take defective consoles... when he was checking a controller that took batteries, he would rather not use the company batteries an assumed mine worked just fine...I took everything to my regular gamestop ( governors) everything worked just fine....maybe give the job to someone who actually wants to work an not be lazy and obnoxious
Negative experience: Does anyone ever do any work here ? I have been calling this GameStop for days and no one picks up. When I head to the store, the kids working there are pretty much yapping with their peers behind the counter. If you don’t like your job, stay back in your basement or something. Let real adults handle working in this society
Fantastic experience: Frank is extremely helpful and kind and made my complicated purchase easier than I could’ve imagined. Will return here because he’s a great guy.
Negative experience: Staff super rude!
Negative experience: Please Don’t submit through PSA at this location!!! My friends and I went to submit about 30 cards in January, and staff in the store would’ve thought we brought in the plague. We recieverour submission fine the first time with mid grades (not their fault!), however, when we picked them up, they again were quite stressed out. About two months ago we go to submit again, and were told they have “no bags” for submissions, and unavailable for another several weeks. Fast forward to today, I call this specific location today to make sure they are still accepting PSA submissions, and they happily confirm yes without any stipulations over the phone. Upon arriving at the workers came up with plentiful excuses on reasons why they could not accept our submissions: they stated “ they can only do 10 at a time” (which is false since we did 30 last time) to “our manager has to do it and we have a two hour meeting”, to “you have to schedule an appointment for grading” (): if these were issues they should’ve been stated when I called in the first place!!! The staff seemed bothered that we even asked to submit when in person. If give the option, go to another location, I did not feel like a valued customer at any point in my interactions.
Negative experience: The employees hold all the items that get sent in limited amounts and buy it for themselves then lie about not having any in stock. I get it when they receive a bunch of an item but when a store only gets one or two of an item, the employees should not be allowed to keep the items on hold as long as they’d like the way they always do.
Positive experience: When I came in to pre order a game, the sales rep was quick to tell me they had no more pre orders available. They had “unlimited” preorders according to the next person to get involved. I am trying to call and after 18 times I have not gotten through…
Positive experience: Good customer service actually a pretty big game stop they have a lot of merchandise others don't I was surprised to see that they sell Xbox 360 and PS2 games however if you call them is jus says there busy phone hasn't worked for months
Negative experience: They keep their phones off the hook. No one answers the phone EVER, no matter what day, or what time of day
Negative experience: They canceled my order without a phone call or detail of why my ordered was canceled. I visit the store and there’s a dude who doesn’t look like he knows what he’s doing and a heavy weighted manager who didn’t care and told him to cancel my order without contacting the customer prior to cancelation. Attempt to raise the concern and call the store they refused to answer. I called 8 times. Never go to this GameStop or order from this GameStop. I ordered from a GameStop 20 miles away and the order was sitting on hold for 3 hours. I walked in and asked for my order and they were all standing around doing nothing at all. Could have fulfilled the order hours prior. My old friend was a manager there and he informed me they haven’t had any business all day so the workers literally didn’t care and just didn’t bother filling an order. Avoid GameStop. Plain and simple.
Negative experience: I called a few other GameStops and they told me what I wanted is at the Christiana Mall location. So I try calling them for three straight days and no answer. So I finally just go and when I get there of course they say they don't have it, he said I should try the one in Middletown smfh
Negative experience: DO NOT USE PSA THREW GAMESTOP LOST ALL MY CARDS!!!!
Negative experience: I did a preorder and Trying to call them to figure out what's going on Try calling them a lot of times and no one picks up Horrible customer service Then the phone's busy then when I call back It's not busy anymore but they don't want to pick up the phone .........
Negative experience: I’ve called them 20+ times over the past couple of days to see about help with my Xbox and have not gotten an answer once… I don’t even need to go in the store to know they have terrible customer service after that
Negative experience: Employees keep limited stock items in the back for themselves leaving less for actual customers. Which i’m pretty sure they’re not even allowed to do per company policy but….
Positive experience: This is a considered a gamestop that sells retro video games. I ended up purchasing a sega genesis. Although I had to get an AV cable to play, it actually works! Bought shining force 2 from a nearby shop and enjoyed playing the sega. Would come back for retro games.
Fantastic experience: It's a game stop just what I need it to be and close to the door at the mall
Negative experience: Told me they had an item in stock but it was for an employee and wouldnt sell it to me. As far as I'm aware that's not allowed on the last item in a store when I worked retail it goes to the customer first.
Fantastic experience: Tony WAS AMAZING real doesn’t try to make you spend unnecessary money! I WILL BE BACK!
Fantastic experience: I went there today looking for a game that had just come out. Unfortunately I forgot to catch her name, but there was a woman who was very helpful. The staff in general is very good, as well as their service
Fantastic experience: On 9/16 I went to the Christiana Mall Game Stop with an issue I had with a gift card I purchased. I purchased a Roblox’s gift card for a gift and when the person went to download the card, it showed invalid. I explained the situation to Chuck who was at the counter and he was more then kind to call GameStop Customer Service. The customer service line wasn’t very helpful and told Chuck I had to call Roblox’s. That was a ridiculous response from customer service , after it was embarrassing enough to give a gift and it showed invalid , and now I had to do the leg work to figure it out . Chuck agreed it was ridiculous and went above and beyond to help me . A manger named Jenna who Chuck consulted with called the higher management to see what they could do . They were allowed to give me another gift card . This was the best customer service! I haven’t been to a game stop in like 10 years . I want to thank the other kind employees Donald and Saint and for being very helpful as well . What a awesome group of employees and great team work . I truly appreciate all the hard work to help get this situation taking care. Thank you Chuck , Jenna , Donald and Saint , I appreciate you all !
Fantastic experience: Pretty cool place, would work there
Negative experience: Be careful when buying pre-owned games here. Not all of them are in good condition and may not run efficiently on a given console. Customer service will not pick up the phone after multiple attempts. Do not patronize this store.
Negative experience: Quickest way to lose a customer to your already dying location is to watch an employee of this location mock a child behind their back because they were asking questions on a game they wanted.
Negative experience: Bad customer service. They do not pick up the phone when you call so I had to drive in. When I got there the customer service was super trash. Decided to go to another GameStop or purchase my game online.
Negative experience: Came here to pick up a game on Friday night. The store was supposed to close at 8:00 p.m. I arrived there at 735 p.m. and then please ready close down the store. I'm never going back to this store.
Negative experience: Standing outside the doors now 20 minutes past the time they claim they are open and the doors are shut. Not the first time it's happened
Negative experience: Bought a $125 Xbox controller plus warranty 3 weeks ago. Controller broken out of the box. No returns! Only if they had a used Controller, which they did not! Total rip-off Christiana Gamestop. Never go to ANY Gamestop they suck!!
Positive experience: This store used to be better. Seems like now they keep a small stock in the store and give you a sense of emptyness when you walk in there. The staff is ok. Just there to do their job and move on. The selection of games is small and leaves you wondering why did I even bother to come to this store?
Negative experience: Worst customer service I have received in my tenure as a human. The crew was huddled in a corner boasting to each other about their newest achievements in Elden Ring while ignoring the customer. Moments later one of them was very audibly belittling peoples purchases. Like dude, I heard you call me an idiot for buying Diablo. I understand the company doesn't treat you so well. I also understand now I was an idiot for buying Diablo but do better please.
Positive experience: Big store with a lot of accessories for gaming and items to go along with it but small selection of actual games that I could see.
Fantastic experience: It was nice, busy but great service
Fantastic experience: I love Gamestop period
Fantastic experience: Awesome place wide variety and great sales awesome customer service very nice.
Positive experience: The store seems very empty.
Negative experience: I purchased an Xbox series x from this GameStop location September 16th 2023. One month and two days later the system bricked on a drive error while trying to update. I now know and have educated myself on this unfortunately fairly common issue with the series x. I followed the troubleshooting steps on Microsoft’s website to no avail. The first suggestion upon failed troubleshooting was to contact the retailer which I did on Wednesday October 18th. This is pertinent because although I am aware of GameStops 30 day return policy I was looking for some assistance with the extenuating circumstances in mind of a brand new system a month old failing. I have been a long standing GameStop customer and also have a background in retail management and understand policies are in place for a reason however with customer service in mind these can be manipulated depending on the circumstances. Now I will say I had 2 very nice and professional conversations with assistance manager Corey however, Shawn the store manager would not speak with me over the phone even though he was very familiar with my issues from my calls the past 2 days. That in mind, I was also instructed to speak with Shawn by 2 different staff members. Corey got back on the phone with me and said Shawn was “too busy” for me and will not talk. Egregious behavior by a leader in retail as far as I’m concerned. Much to his credit Corey did present a solution of taking the return as long as I had the original box of which I told them on each of my calls that I discarded after I set up my new console. I’m not looking for a handout in this pursuit. I am just upset GameStop does not stand behind the products they sell. I asked to escalate this conversation to a district manager and they told me they are “not allowed” to provide any contact information for GameStop corporate. I am sad to say after 30+ years of shopping at GameStop I will no longer give them any business again. I am also saddened I have to take time out of my work day to put this together in an effort to get the attention of someone in the corporate office. My frustration does not lie with Corey or the store associates who I spoke with several times this week but the simple fact I got a lemon of a console and the store manager “didn’t have the time” (I was instructed to call and speak with him) to even give me the respect of telling me himself. I encourage anyone looking to make a big purchase of a console to just order it on Amazon like I should have. $500 Lesson learned.
Negative experience: Went to GameStop to buy the ps5. The sales clerk told me I was not allowed to buy the ps5 without also buying a membership that cost $120. Which brought the total to more then $600. Ended up buying one from Best Buy for $500
Positive experience: One clerk. Complicated sales taking place. He was very knowledgeable. Took approximately 20 minutes to buy a package of Pokémon cards.
Positive experience: Very poor selection. We did purchase some pops they had and one staff member was friendly helping my daughter. We then had to wait on line forever while the other staff member assisted the same person for the entire time.
Fantastic experience: Very cool.pokemo. Selection
Fantastic experience: This is a solid location with great selection and customer service
Positive experience: This is a larger GameStop, but it feels like their inventory is constantly shrinking. Staff here is always polite, helpful and professional. Not a bad GameStop. I'd just like to see them stock more.
Fantastic experience: Love love love GameStop. I'm just sad to see what it has become nowadays. I enjoyed geeking out about games to the guys at the counter...but there's a lot less games and more "stuff" and empty space. Reminds me a lot of when record stores were closing up. GameStop will always be #1 to me,
Fantastic experience: Games where great but controllers was expensive
Positive experience: One of the better GameStops based on customer service alone. Those folks have to deal with the rowdiest and dumbest customers. Minus a star because it's gamestop.
Positive experience: I like this store but lately have found selection to be a little lacking. Staff is nice. Store is clean but there is more merch and bobbles than actual games and game accessories.
Positive experience: Bought nothing major. One of the nicer game stops tho.
Fantastic experience: We were just browsing on this day . They had some nice things there .
Fantastic experience: Always has up to date games and software. Great prices
Positive experience: A lot of games, consoles and assorted paraphenalia. Honestly, the store seems lacking somehow.
Fantastic experience: During the Christmas rush I was greeted by a young man..Who was very knowledgeable and personable..Made my wait in line Pleasant...
Positive experience: No customer service, empty shelves, and lack of knowledge.
Negative experience: Been trying to call them for hours to ask if they have an item in stocks and never phone was never answered and then this final call they had taken the phone off the receiver. Horrible service to the point I don't eant to go in the store.
Positive experience: I wish that they had more xbox 360 games in the store.
Positive experience: Not a bad store, not the best gamestop around me but definitely the second.
Fantastic experience: I knew what I was looking for when I went in...The guy working, came up and asked if I was looking for anything specific...I said Yes. He checked, he had a used game for a very reasonable price. Quick, friendly, Tidy store, and the game works like new.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff with a sense of humor.
Fantastic experience: Always friendly service and have what I'm looking for
Positive experience: Fair prices, nice staff, and a good selection. Don’t forget to mention the clean environment of this place and how spacious it is. My only issue is the small selection of XBOX games. But besides that, this is my go-to game accessory store.
Fantastic experience: I recommend this store , thank me later great service fasho
Positive experience: Big store lots of games and figures
Fantastic experience: First time in my life (35) I went into Gamestop,, spent $180 bucks and none of it was a game. Times have changed, in a good way. Folks that work their are fun, upbeat and great conversationalist.
Positive experience: Good but some stuff a little overpriced
Fantastic experience: Good store with lots of varied stock. The workers are helpful and friendly.
Negative experience: Nothing had a price tag
Positive experience: Just choc full of stopping. No going, just stopping.
Negative experience: I really wanted to give this store the benefit of the doubt but they've proven they are awful. My husband went and preordered a game in February as he does every year. Game was released and he wasn't able to go pick up for a couple weeks after it was released. Mind you, this game comes out every year and he never is able to pick up within 48 hours of the release date NOR has any associate at this or the other two stores told him of this policy. We go to pick up the game and pay it off last week. He's told someone sold it. We paid it off because they said we could and they'd have it in within a week. For the past two days we've called the store multiple times during normal business hours. Never an answer. Its been a week, no call. My husband had to go to a different GameStop for the game, drop another $100 and now we have to go back to this store for the refund. Complete waste of our time. Awful customer service. Not only should you tell a customer of this 48 hour policy upon putting money down to hold a new release but if they don't do that, knowing the customer put money down, before selling it, they should call the customer and remind them 'hey, you have a preorder here. You need to pick up or give us a call or we will sell it' but no. Ridiculous!
Fantastic experience: I find stuff I am looking for
Positive experience: This gamestop never has nothing nothing
Fantastic experience: Nice place this one.
Fantastic experience: Most Game Stops are pretty crammed but this one is spacious which is nice. They had a big selection of t-shirts too.
Negative experience: They didn't have any game systems last time I went here and the game selection was super small, I'd order anything before coming here again
Fantastic experience: The Christiana Mall GameStop was the right place for me to go as I finished my 2020 holiday shopping. A staff member, helped me make some final decisions. Supply & demand was obviously an issue so buying a game console was not an option. Yet, I'll definitely go back to this store when I need to buy stuff!
Negative experience: Didn't have the item that I wanted, Sold out!
Positive experience: This store looks dilapidated! Hardly any games on display!
Fantastic experience: Had everything I was looking for... the people there was so nice and is willing to help with anything... will definitely go back...
Fantastic experience: Great place for all your video game needs.
Positive experience: Limited stock, no longer have PS4.
Positive experience: It had everything but it run out of gift cards and don't have consels
Positive experience: Timothy W. Was so nice, but I'll Literally never shop at GameStop again.
Negative experience: My friend and I went to a GameStop retail store at Christiana Mall in Newark DE at 11 am today (Nov 9). There were barely any people in the store. We were going to trade in a game and purchase another game. When it was our turn, the employee (named Vincent) put us on the side and let 3 other people behind us to cut in front of us. We waited for 30 minutes for the people behind us to finish. When I asked the employee why he put us on the side and let 3 people behind us cut in front of us, he said our transaction would take too long. The reality is that I put a stopwatch on my phone. It only took 3 minutes and 35 seconds to finish our transaction, while it took us 30 minutes to wait for the people behind us to cut in front of us. These people each took a lot longer than 3 minutes. Therefore, that employee’s reason for leave us aside waiting is completely absurd. Besides, first come first serve should be the common sense regardless how long a transaction would take. In the end, when I ask for the employee for an explanation, I was clearly not satisfied with his excuse. I said I would contact corporate. His response got a lot worse and started yelling at me and said “Go call them” in an extremely rude and loud manner. As a background note, I am Asian. I simply cannot find a different reason other than being discriminated to explain what happened to me today. At this special time, racial discrimination is a rather critical issue. What I experienced at your retail store is completely unacceptable. I hope your company will take its responsibility to address this complaint very seriously. I hope to believe that this is just an individual employee’s bad behavior. But only actions at the higher level would convince me that the single employee does not represent the company. My friend has been a GameStop customer for 8 years and is a Pro Member. Our experience today made him seriously doubt whether he should be a customer anymore. As you know, negative word-of-mouth spread very fast. I hope this issue can be well addressed before the words spread out. Thanks.
Negative experience: Employees are just as useless as they are miserable
Fantastic experience: Found last OLED switch a worker so kindly gave up for me. Great staff here
Fantastic experience: Nicest staff in the mall. It's also right by a mall entrance so it's easy to run in and grab a new game.
Positive experience: Aside from the clerk being on a personal call on his cell phone for the duration of the transaction, I had no complaints.
Positive experience: If you are in the mall definitely head in to see what's in store!
Fantastic experience: One of my favorite stores to go to excellent place staff is great & friendly
Positive experience: Half the floorspace is just empty now. I remember when there used to be things everywhere and shelves everywhere. Now, there's only a few games if any, no consoles to buy, and some shirts and stuff.
Positive experience: Good shop, knowledgeable associates, wish they had more items available on site but otherwise a good shop
Positive experience: Small but cool staff
Fantastic experience: I will never stop going to gamestop. They have amazing service and if you ask them a question they know what to say
Negative experience: Store feels less about video games and more about selling kids toys and low quality junk. I use to live browsing games but not with this awful set up.
Fantastic experience: Great selections and great service.
Fantastic experience: Brought some great games and awesome stuffed animals.
Positive experience: This is a store. They sell new and used video games and stuff.
Positive experience: This is one of my grandson's favorite place for he and I to go.
Positive experience: My son loves this place and with their membership that's 10 dollars a year you get a 5 dollar off coupon at the beginning of every month along with other benefits. They display games that they do not have is my only complaint.
Fantastic experience: Employees were very friendly and helpful and had good knowledge of many games.
